Frequently Asked Questions
Starting treatment with a psychologist can feel overwhelming. After providing your contact details, Angela will be in touch to discuss the reasons you are seeking support and answer any questions you might have. An initial appointment time will be scheduled.
The initial session involves an assessment of why you are seeking psychological treatment and any relevant history. Your goals for treatment will also be identified.
There is evidence that online consultations are as effective as in-person sessions. All virtual sessions are conducted using a secure platform to ensure treatment is private and secure.
You will need a private, quiet space free from interruptions. A device such as a smartphone, laptop, iPad (or other tablet), or a computer with a camera and microphone will be required. You will also need a reliable internet connection. Before the session, you will receive a link to click on in order to enter the virtual waiting room.
Sessions can also be conducted over the telephone.
Credit card details need to be provided when booking an initial appointment to allow payment processing.

You will need to make a long appointment with your GP to create a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP). The MHTP and a referral letter from your GP allows you to access the rebate of $92.90 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.
This will depend on your health fund and your level of cover. The amount varies between funds so please check with your insurer directly. You cannot claim a Medicare rebate and a private health rebate for the same session.
Angela does not offer crisis support.
